Turn on Bluetooth on your phone, and have your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi name and password ready. Plantiemoji cannot connect to a 5 GHz-only network.

Step 1. Add Your Plant — Open Plantalk AI and add the plant you want to monitor.

Step 2. Set Up Your Plantiemoji — Attach the Emoji Display Module magnetically to the RootSnorkel.

Step 3. Place It in Your Pot — Insert RootSnorkel halfway between the stem and the edge of the pot. Keep the top row of openings above the soil and the display unobstructed.

Step 4. Connect Your Device — Follow the steps in the app to find Plantiemoji and connect it to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

Step 5. Pair Your Plant with the Device — In the app, select the plant you added and bind it to your device.

Plantiemoji is intended for indoor potted plants. Keep the display module, the battery pack, and the charging contacts away from water. Make sure the modules and their contacts are dry before charging. Do not immerse the device or force the sensor into hard soil or thick roots.

Emoji Display Module — The Emoji Display Module uses animated expressions to reflect your plant's condition based on environmental readings. It also supplies power to RootSnorkel when the two modules are attached.

Battery Pack — Kit Only — The Battery Pack attaches magnetically to RootSnorkel to keep it powered when you take the Emoji Display with you.

Display Holder — Kit Only — The Display Holder holds the Emoji Display Module for carrying or display.

Charge the Emoji Display Module and, if included, the Battery Pack. A full charge takes approximately 1 hour for each module.

Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and allow Plantalk AI to use it.

Have your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi name and password ready. Plantiemoji cannot connect to a 5 GHz-only network.

Keep your phone, device, and router close together during setup.

Step 1. Add Your Plant — Open Plantalk AI and add the plant you want to monitor. Follow the prompts to photograph your plant and complete its profile. If your plant is already in the app, use its existing profile.

Step 2. Set Up Your Plantiemoji — Align the magnetic contacts and attach the Emoji Display Module to RootSnorkel. Make sure it sits flat and is securely attached.

Step 3. Place It in Your Pot — Insert RootSnorkel upright, approximately halfway between the plant's stem and the edge of the pot. Keep the top row of openings above the soil. Keep the light-sensing area clear of leaves and other obstructions. Avoid thick roots and stones. Do not force the sensor into hard soil. Make sure the soil is in contact with the inserted sensing area.

Step 4. Connect Your Device — Keep the Emoji Display attached to RootSnorkel and connect the assembled device to USB power using the magnetic charging cable. In Plantalk AI, open device setup and follow the prompts to find your Plantiemoji. Select your device, enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi details, and keep the device powered while it connects.

Step 5. Bind Your Plant to the Device — Select the plant you added and confirm the connection. Once setup is complete, open the plant's page to view its environmental readings.

Keep the Emoji with Your Plant

Attach the Emoji Display to RootSnorkel and leave RootSnorkel inserted in the soil.

For a continuously lit screen, keep the assembled device connected to USB power.

Carrying the Emoji with You

Place the Emoji Display in the Emoji Display Holder and take it with you.

Battery life: approximately 3–5 days per full charge.

RootSnorkel needs a power source to continue monitoring. Keep RootSnorkel powered at home using either option:

Battery life varies with usage and operating conditions. Battery Pack and Emoji Display Holder are included in Plantiemoji Kit only.

Turn On — Press and hold the display button until an emoji appears with an animation entering from the lower-left corner.

Turn Off — Press and hold the display button until the emoji exits toward the lower-left corner.

Sleep and Wake — During cordless use, the screen turns off and enters sleep mode after 5 seconds without movement. Gently tap the display to wake the screen. A sleeping screen is not switched off. When the display remains attached to RootSnorkel, its battery also supplies power to the sensor.

Keep the Screen On — To keep the screen on continuously, connect the Emoji Display to USB power using the magnetic charging cable, either on its own or while attached to RootSnorkel.

Understanding the Expressions — The display shows animated expressions based on your plant's environmental conditions.

After Wi-Fi connects, continue following the app prompts until device setup and plant linking are complete.

Open the plant linked to your device in Plantalk AI to view its environmental information. RootSnorkel measures air temperature, air humidity, light intensity, atmospheric pressure, and soil moisture.

Charging the Emoji Display and Battery Pack — Make sure the module and charging contacts are dry. Connect the USB-A end of the included cable to a 5V USB power source. Attach the magnetic connector to the module's charging contacts. Check that the connector is aligned and securely attached. Charge the Emoji Display and Battery Pack before using them as cordless power sources. Charging time for each module: 1 hour.

Checking Battery Levels — You can check the battery level of the Emoji Display or Battery Pack in Plantalk AI only while that module is magnetically attached to RootSnorkel.

Supported RootSnorkel Power Configurations — RootSnorkel + Emoji Display: cordless monitoring with the display attached. RootSnorkel + Emoji Display + powered magnetic cable: continuous monitoring; supports a continuously lit screen. RootSnorkel + powered magnetic cable: continuous monitoring while the display is elsewhere. RootSnorkel + Battery Pack: cordless monitoring while the display is elsewhere. RootSnorkel + Battery Pack + powered magnetic cable: monitoring with the Battery Pack attached and external power connected.

Power Use Before Setup Is Complete — Not being connected to the app does not mean the device is switched off. An attached Emoji Display or Battery Pack can supply power to RootSnorkel before setup is complete. Keep the device plugged in while setting it up or troubleshooting a connection. If you pause setup and put the device aside, disconnect the modules and switch off the Emoji Display.

View device status and identify individual devices.

Unlink a device from a plant.

Move a device to another plant.

Remove a device from an account.

Set up the device after changing phones. After changing phones, download Plantalk AI again and sign in to your account.

The App Cannot Find My Device — Connect the assembled device to a 5V USB power source using the magnetic charging cable. Turn on Bluetooth and allow Plantalk AI to use it. Move your phone closer to the device.

The Device Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi — Use a 2.4 GHz network. Check the network name and password. Move the device closer to the router. Check the indicator light to see whether it is waiting for setup or attempting to connect.

No Readings Appear in the App — Check that the device is linked to the correct plant. Make sure RootSnorkel still has power. If you removed the Emoji Display, connect a powered magnetic cable or attach a charged Battery Pack. Check the Wi-Fi connection.

The Screen Goes Dark — During cordless use, the screen sleeps after 5 seconds without movement. Gently tap it to wake it. For a continuously lit screen, attach the Emoji Display to RootSnorkel and connect the assembled device to USB power. If the display is switched off, press and hold its button until the power-on animation appears. If it does not respond, charge it.

The Battery Runs Out After a Few Days — Expected cordless runtime is approximately: Emoji Display + RootSnorkel: 3–5 days. Emoji Display on its own: 3–5 days. Battery Pack + RootSnorkel: 10–15 days. A dark or sleeping screen does not mean the whole device is switched off. If the Emoji Display is attached to RootSnorkel, it supplies power to the sensor. For continuous operation without relying on battery power, use the magnetic cable connected to a USB power source.

Soil Moisture Reads 0 — Gently firm the soil around RootSnorkel, water the soil if needed, and check the reading again after about 30 minutes. If the soil is already wet, check contact between the soil and sensor rather than adding more water.

Use Plantiemoji indoors with potted plants.

The product is not waterproof. Do not immerse it or expose it to rain.

When watering, avoid splashing the display, Battery Pack, connection points, or openings.

The Emoji Display can crack if dropped. Handle it carefully and check that it is securely attached or fitted into the holder before carrying it.

Make sure all charging contacts are dry before connecting power.

Do not force RootSnorkel into hard soil, stones, or thick roots.

Keep small parts out of reach of children.

Do not disassemble or modify the device.

Before putting the device away, disconnect its power sources and switch off the Emoji Display.
